This event is solely intended for practitioners within the Staffordshire area who wish to undertake their Glaucoma Part 2 practical. For further information and if you wish to book a place please contact Alison Lowell at admin@staffsloc.co.uk
The assessment is in the form of four OSCEs, each takes 5 minutes. Please allow 60 minutes for the whole assessment process. You will receive a briefing prior to your assessment and may be required to remain for the following session to sit as a 'patient' for your colleagues. The OSCEs are based on the four LOCSU Glaucoma distance learning lectures. These lectures and MCQs must be successfully completed two days before the event occurs. Contact the LOC to obtain the promo code and instructions in order to access these lectures via the WOPEC website.
Results will be emailed 2-3 weeks after the event has occurred.
OSCE stations
- Checking the calibration of the Goldmann Applanation Tonometer.
- The use of the Goldmann Applanation Tonometer.
- The use of a Volk Lens.
- The use of Van Herick's Technique.
Practice makes perfect - Experience dictates that, if you are relatively new to any of the four techniques named above, it would be advisable to gain as much practice as possible between now and the event. It is expected that you are performing these techniques regularly on your routine patients, particularly the use of a Goldmann tonometer (T Type).
