This course has been created especially for the Optical Assistant; either those who are new to optical practice, or for those who are increasing duties within their practice. Designed to give insight in to all the roles an Optical Assistant may undertake in practice and increase their confidence to deliver an excellent service to their patients.

The attendance day will be held in the fully equipped postgraduate clinics, located within the purpose built Cardiff University School of Optometry and Vision Sciences. The day comprises undertaking pre-screen tests, managing a patient requesting an appointment, contact lens teaches and other duties required in practice. The course will be limited to a small group of 18 attendees and taught by experienced practitioners.

In advance of the event attendees will have access to 9 interactive on-line lectures. Each with duration of about 30 minutes and topics comprise:
1. An Introduction to your optical practice
2. Data protection and optometry law
3. Appointments and NHS provision
4. The eye and common conditions
5. Vision and glasses
6. Appointment priorities
7. Contact lenses
8. Special considerations
9. Pre-screening tests

Payments can be made on-line, by cheque (payable to 'Cardiff University') or by debit/credit card. In all instances you will receive a fee receipt. It is not possible to raise an invoice for payment.
