This event is for optometrists wishing to deliver Eye Health Examination Wales (EHEW) services. Any fully qualified optometrist, with a GOC-01- number, registered to practice in Wales can be accredited to provide EHEW examinations.
If you would like to become accredited, please book your place on the event. You will be contacted for further practice information and then given access to complete the CET approved on-line lectures and corresponding MCQs. Please note: All MCQs must be successfully completed at least 3 days before the event occurrs. For more information, please contact Emma Bolton: BoltonE1@cardiff.ac.uk
The contact day commences 5pm and conclude by 8.30pm. The order of the workshop, peer discussion and assessment (if required) will be allocated on the night. There are 6 interactive CET points.
- EHEW services peer discussion group - mandatory
- Corneal foreign body removal workshop - mandatory
- MECS/EHEW assessment - if required
The assessment is in the form of five OSCEs, each takes 6 minutes. The OSCEs are based on the MECS distance learning lectures.
OSCE stations
- Station 1 - Volk BIO
- Station 2 - Patient interaction
- Station 3 & 4 - Structured Oral’s
- Station 5 - Referral
Practice makes perfect - The only practical element in the OSCEs is the slit lamp Volk BIO station, it is expected that you regularly practice this examination technique on your routine, un-dilated patients.
