This event is solely intended for practitioners within the Birmingham, Sandwell, Solihull, Dudley, Wolverhampton and Walsall areas who wish to undertake their MECS Part 2 practical assessment.
When booking, please email the lead assessor (email@example.com) with the practices you work at. If all slots are fully booked, please email the lead assessor who will put you on the waiting list.
If you work outside of the above areas and wish to attend, please email the lead assessor (first who may be able to accommodate you. A fee payable to the Primary Eyecare company for sitting these exams may be required in advance.
The assessment is in the form of 5 assessment stations, each takes 5 minutes (plus reading time). Please allow 90 minutes for the whole assessment process. You will receive a briefing prior to your assessment and may be required to remain for the following session to sit as a ‘patient’ for your colleagues. The assessment is based on the 7 LOCSU MECS distance learning lectures. The lectures and MCQs must be successfully completed three days before the event occurs. Practitioners must be registered with the GOC and hold a ‘GOC – ‘number in order to book the assessment.
Results will be emailed 2-3 weeks after the event has occurred. Practitioners who cancel their booking or fail to attend this assessment without prior contact with WOPEC at least 5 days before the event may be issued with an exam fee of £125 from Cardiff University.

Stations 4&5 - Structured oral
Practice makes perfect – the only practical element is the slit lamp Volk BIO station. It is expected that you are regularly practice this examination technique on your routine, undilated patients.
