Professional qualifications in Low Vision

Did you know that you can use the LOCSU low vision module towards a Professional Certificate in Low Vision?

You have already taken the first step by completing your LOCSU training course and we can support your education further.

We offer a 10 credit practical module (Low Vision 2, OPT002) that together with the LOSCU  module is accredited for the Certificate in Low Vision which is endorsed by the College of Optometrists. This would enable you to use 'Prof Cert Low Vision' after your name.

Holding a formal qualification will demonstrate your commitment to caring for people with sight loss and enable patients, ophthalmologists and GPs to be aware of your special interest in this area of practice.

The Low Vision 2 module aims to provide eye care practitioners with the practical training to provide a high standard of low vision care for people with visual impairment.  This module includes a two day practical skills workshop.  There are 10 CET points available for the module and the cost in the next academic year is £575 for new students.

We are accepting admissions now for the next start date of September 2017. To find out more please email us at pgoptom@cardiff.ac.uk or call us on 029 2087 6316.

NB This only applies for 3 years after you complete the LOCSU low vision course.
