Enhance your routine clinical practice - 23rd March 2014

This one day event is ideal for practitioners wishing to boost the clinical skills they use in every day practice.  It's especially useful for those who have taken a career break, those who have completed the LOCSU Glaucoma or PEARS distance learning courses and wish to practice before taking practical assessments, or those who just wish to refine and perfect their proficiency. 

The event will be CET approved, including peer review points.

The event includes:

Volk lens and examination of the anterior features workshop

-use a variety of Volk lenses to demonstrate the different features of each lens, and make the appropriate choices when examining the periphery, macula and optic disc. 

-use a Volk lens to measure the size of the optic disc

- perform a full slit lamp examination of the anterior eye, including Van Herick's and Smith's technique

Contact tonometry workshop

- gain practical experience in calibrating and measuring IOP using a Perkins and Goldmann applanation tonometer

Lecture and peer discussion group

- discuss a presentation on aspects of eye examinations and record keeping

Poster session

- discuss images and questions relating to pathology potentially encountered in daily practice
