Dear all,

As you are aware, we are hoping to give another push to our Acute Eye Care messages today as part of National Eye Health Week. This morning Dr Ruth Hussey, the Chief Medical Officer, will visit an optometrist to raise awareness of the important role we play and to encourage the public to consult with us first (instead of a GP) if they have an acute eye problem.

We would be grateful for any help you could provide in extending the reach of this mini-campaign through your available channels.

To this end, please find a link to download a tweet schedule (you should be able to either click on it to open or right click and save as to save it to your computer). If any of you are on Twitter please feel free to use any of the generic tweets today or to retweet the CMO and Choose Well tweets.

We also have links for you to download the following:

  • versions of a leaflet encouraging people with urgent eye problems to visit their optometrist: please click here for a print version and here for a web-ready version in Welsh or English

Please use these yourself or share them with others in your local area such as GPs or Pharmacists over the coming week.

The more people that join in, the wider the message will spread.

Please remember to use the following hashtags during the week: #GofalLlygaidCymru #wythnosllygaid #eyecarewales #eyeweekwales

Many thanks for your help.

Best wishes,

Barbara
